Summer loves to play soccer and she is pretty good at it too. But camp lets the kids learn the game a little more in depth and helps them fix things that maybe they are doing incorrectly as well. But overall, it's just a fun week! This was Summer's second year of camp and you can check out last year's camp <a href="https://www.thecolbertclan.com/2020/09/challenger-sports-soccer-camp.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjJLHnY3dSFVUWzwnlNNcEcoClfs1OLHQKQ1jDdatODUuaySqRHXHqP1RF9BoYrqGvWghuZ7_nXvj-WcrzScYEoGpMd7sGHJKGsNOp8ScGTxMilx9CLPYfQFxvggE931vBZsdJxAqONJyA-nlQbEzPO52jYFk5jj3b8kfPOUc-VtDq4b73ab0QLAQI2=s2048" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjJLHnY3dSFVUWzwnlNNcEcoClfs1OLHQKQ1jDdatODUuaySqRHXHqP1RF9BoYrqGvWghuZ7_nXvj-WcrzScYEoGpMd7sGHJKGsNOp8ScGTxMilx9CLPYfQFxvggE931vBZsdJxAqONJyA-nlQbEzPO52jYFk5jj3b8kfPOUc-VtDq4b73ab0QLAQI2=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><p>This year I had chosen to do camp at the end of June, but because of a shortage of soccer coaches her camp week was merged with the camp in August, so that's when we went. She was provided with the cool jersey (shown in the photo above) and we were told she would receive her ball on the first day of camp. However, due to a ball shortage, the balls didn't arrive in time for camp and she used the one from last year. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi2bKj3CxzmORWkg3yO2OoERw42oXF7gxRdMcDcjcBV-7P0oz-58wmCs4E76CUVKutDUOS4q0SNDGRGGDABgU0ZX2yePbxWOkIEMYw_IGVuf87sd1NxzPRkkPdZ3htjolRy5MgMICetyWIAQ9zHOE0T5vj1gUrpm4eNT_0JIjSeIn7I-I_izXFco4IH=s387" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="387" data-original-width="320" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi2bKj3CxzmORWkg3yO2OoERw42oXF7gxRdMcDcjcBV-7P0oz-58wmCs4E76CUVKutDUOS4q0SNDGRGGDABgU0ZX2yePbxWOkIEMYw_IGVuf87sd1NxzPRkkPdZ3htjolRy5MgMICetyWIAQ9zHOE0T5vj1gUrpm4eNT_0JIjSeIn7I-I_izXFco4IH=s320" width="265" /></a></div><p>Challenger Sports is the largest Soccer camp company in North America. For one, girls just teach different than boys, which isn't a bad thing, it was just different. </p><p>This year there were several older boys at camp and they basically just wanted to show off how far they could kick the ball, even if that meant kicking over the goal and into oncoming traffic. The coaches, not being too much older than the kids themselves, and not being parents, I think just didn't know how to handle that. And it was a little frustrating watching nothing being done day after day. Not really the coached fault, there is only so much they can do, but annoying for the kids to start and stop every time these kids wanted to act out. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiCiZAvTHx_pW758mue4sF42I2A6slAg9xgOafBsZRgYs90-s_XAnn1QvHbAOLW1UEFu3JIwDoArPQG3OyNDa9HblCPa232QTm4B0o_FddAWm5-yhVPLz5Nc4Ktlpmdl33AK0PO7YACrj3dDpV-Npzs9wQal-3M7pprlYaxXbyiI4I_-r4scwB_woIM=s2048" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiCiZAvTHx_pW758mue4sF42I2A6slAg9xgOafBsZRgYs90-s_XAnn1QvHbAOLW1UEFu3JIwDoArPQG3OyNDa9HblCPa232QTm4B0o_FddAWm5-yhVPLz5Nc4Ktlpmdl33AK0PO7YACrj3dDpV-Npzs9wQal-3M7pprlYaxXbyiI4I_-r4scwB_woIM=w640-h480" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEic1TCCPJo6R4p5gUpfOqg8jGwyRWNCL8Pbf-GNxSU_q5mPflAi4kNLNpYBH35cCkIB9qhdrgpcAGruYVQkGeAN9MO63TC813aylR8Av3V6d-cJNOX5EdQY3OVPKy0R9ANKJOw14LPbYZ4yM3epowCWeGsImceaXdIHAflrL0WrwJCGhbwLf4W902jF=s2048" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEic1TCCPJo6R4p5gUpfOqg8jGwyRWNCL8Pbf-GNxSU_q5mPflAi4kNLNpYBH35cCkIB9qhdrgpcAGruYVQkGeAN9MO63TC813aylR8Av3V6d-cJNOX5EdQY3OVPKy0R9ANKJOw14LPbYZ4yM3epowCWeGsImceaXdIHAflrL0WrwJCGhbwLf4W902jF=w640-h480" width="640" /></a></div><p>Overall, Summer had a lot of fun and learned some new things. The soccer balls didn't come in until after camp was over and we received an email letting us know they were available to pick up. Due to the fact that we live about 45 minutes away, I let them know they could just donate ours because it wasn't really worth a trip to pick up a ball and it was a little disappointing that they didn't just pop it in the mail to her. This past year was pretty low key because we didn't want a "big" party. We just invited a few close friends and it was perfect. The last couple of years Summer has wanted to do a "campout" and sleep in the back yard. I haven't been able to commit to that level of a sleepover just yet so we did a camp-themed party instead. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f-fnQYeaX8A/YBSKZd8RMHI/AAAAAAABsZA/DRM_meCL4egaKz7VvxPoSOzZY0b5OTWnQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20200919_144356.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f-fnQYeaX8A/YBSKZd8RMHI/AAAAAAABsZA/DRM_meCL4egaKz7VvxPoSOzZY0b5OTWnQCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/20200919_144356.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>It was basic and easy and the kids had fun! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L_EaxTGwBdE/YBSKZV8vOCI/AAAAAAABsZE/f4luwIvP-jo2VeaZ2MhfRwQVswwa6qOkACPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200919_144345.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L_EaxTGwBdE/YBSKZV8vOCI/AAAAAAABsZE/f4luwIvP-jo2VeaZ2MhfRwQVswwa6qOkACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200919_144345.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>We decided to do a fun little painting project, painting these little birdhouses that I found at Michaels. They were only .99! And thanks to <a href="https://decoart.com/" target="_blank">DecoArt</a> as they provided all of the paint that we used. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n2KSEh96ajE/YBSKaMnEqpI/AAAAAAABsZ0/Un9ja55Fx14qYVfYsS2HDgjoKfbdv45_ACPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200919_145043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n2KSEh96ajE/YBSKaMnEqpI/AAAAAAABsZ0/Un9ja55Fx14qYVfYsS2HDgjoKfbdv45_ACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200919_145043.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>The girls (And poor Tyler, always the only boy!) picked out their paint colors, just adding a small amount to a paper plate. Summer is 7 and she loves soccer! I knew this would be perfect for her and I jumped at the chance to do this for her! She loves being active and being around other people and the hot weather. I knew everything about this experience would put her in her element!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7KLrYNtXVlo/X_9rAZucOJI/AAAAAAABrzM/VP7modJ1rkgl-qPPoTaB-AnZVt3KbJOsACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Soccer%2BCamp.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7KLrYNtXVlo/X_9rAZucOJI/AAAAAAABrzM/VP7modJ1rkgl-qPPoTaB-AnZVt3KbJOsACLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Soccer%2BCamp.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">Originally scheduled the June session, for 1 week and chose half days. I wasn't sure if a full day would be too long for my 7 year old and just decided to stick with a three-hour session. Obviously, this darn pandemic had different plans for all of us and I didn't know how this would impact soccer camp, but a short time later we got an update that the first session was cancelled and we got switched to the August session. Luckily that worked for us as far as our schedule, because our schedule was pretty empty, other than going to the lake!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><span style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: left;">Before our session, Challenger Sports sent Summer this super cool jersey and she was excited to wear it the first day of camp! But now, here we are. You've been preparing for this for the past 12 years. It's finally your year. So many fun things to come such as senior sunrise, homecoming, senior sunset, Prom, end of year bbq, signing the rock, the senior all-nighter, your Navy swear-in at MEPS, your 18th birthday and graduation. This is for you. You're the graduate.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PS4nBKYJH0g/X_u9Wv7JOFI/AAAAAAABrts/LsLkpbyvnz8MIXSN2o2fZjrVBqRgJGvLACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/TheGraduate.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PS4nBKYJH0g/X_u9Wv7JOFI/AAAAAAABrts/LsLkpbyvnz8MIXSN2o2fZjrVBqRgJGvLACLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/TheGraduate.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br />We should have probably known that something was up last fall when you crawled out of bed at 5 am to go watch the sunrise with the rest of the class of 2020 and the clouds didn't let it happen. No senior sunrise? Bummer, but that's okay. So many more events to come.<br /><br />I will never forget the day the governor announced that classes were cancelled. I was helping in Tyler's class, doing an art project, and his teacher pulled the press conference up on his laptop. We listened as we were told that after Monday there would be no classes. I remember him and I looking at each other, and saying, What does this mean for all these kids? He also had a senior at the rivalry high school, and what will happen with graduation? What will happen with the Navy swear in? So many unanswered questions.<br /><br />That next week we navigated into new unchartered waters. Thankfully you had a pretty laid back schedule your senior year, but if I never have to smell the smell of clay in your bedroom again, that will be okay with me. Watching you build your clay statue in your bedroom is something I never thought would happen. But here I am watching Freddy Kreuger come to life.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LeiSd7ABwW8/YAJIAR3_CsI/AAAAAAABr5E/Gs2kMXXCn3ge_IQr_Fb0UjPJimhVPL42ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20200401_210148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LeiSd7ABwW8/YAJIAR3_CsI/AAAAAAABr5E/Gs2kMXXCn3ge_IQr_Fb0UjPJimhVPL42ACLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/20200401_210148.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>The day you left for MEPS was one of the longest days of my life. Not hearing from you for over 24 hours had happened before. You've stayed with friends and family plenty of times. But this time was different. Today a life-altering plan was being made and I was not there to see or hear what was happening. When you came through the door it was such a relief and the moment you told me you got the rate you wanted made me so incredibly proud of you. I really don't know if I have had a prouder moment than that.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d75iE9DTzP4/YAJItbXmZrI/AAAAAAABr5M/9ZWKyQRSHskLb-t2Ff5AnNruH5sYAcXVwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1024/Navy%2B41520.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="614" data-original-width="1024" height="384" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d75iE9DTzP4/YAJItbXmZrI/AAAAAAABr5M/9ZWKyQRSHskLb-t2Ff5AnNruH5sYAcXVwCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h384/Navy%2B41520.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>Two weeks after MEPS you turned 18. Of course, we had plans for a party that had already been long ago shot down, but that doesn't mean we aren't celebrating! It was just a little bit of a smaller celebration with Bailey and Grandpa.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VIKcUo5gWug/YAJJJ7mDZxI/AAAAAAABr5Y/4_X0LGnvqPk88YjwQCKYTlEs6fQugC-PACLcBGAsYHQ/s1024/18th%2BBirthday.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1024" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VIKcUo5gWug/YAJJJ7mDZxI/AAAAAAABr5Y/4_X0LGnvqPk88YjwQCKYTlEs6fQugC-PACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/18th%2BBirthday.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>Now we are down to the last month of the school year. What is going to happen with Graduation? Do we send out announcements? Do we plan a graduation party? Will we be able to celebrate at all? Thankfully we live in the school district that we do because they did everything they could to make sure you and your classmates felt celebrated. Which honestly, isn't easy with 400 students!<br /><br />A sign was added to our front yard and you waited for 5 hours in line to get free Krispy Kreme donuts:<br /><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I was actually at school helping with Tyler's painting project when our governor announced that school was going to shut down for the next 6 weeks. I sat there chatting with Tyler's teacher about how unbelievable this all felt. For someone like me that stays home, sure this could work. I might go crazy, but we can make it work. But what about all the people that don't have that option? What was going to happen? How was the last year going to wrap up with graduation for my senior? What was going to happen with his upcoming military plans? So many unknowns are scary, but now here we are, two and a half months later and things are still pretty unknown. </p><p>Of course, some things regarding school have worked themselves out. Parents became "distance learning teachers". Our kids became proficient in typing and using computers and Kindles and Ipads for things they never had before. Our in-class sessions were cancelled for the rest of the school year and Zoom became our new normal way to communicate with our classes and for Girl Scout meetings. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hHzVnK0hM_k/YAJOJkYZOQI/AAAAAAABr7c/hFx-6TpNidcLh9aD2wVR6IIpfHmdJuskgCPcBGAYYCw/s1310/School%2Bat%2Bhome.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1310" height="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hHzVnK0hM_k/YAJOJkYZOQI/AAAAAAABr7c/hFx-6TpNidcLh9aD2wVR6IIpfHmdJuskgCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h500/School%2Bat%2Bhome.png" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Sometimes we liked school at home. You'd think right now I'd have all the time in the world to work on my blog when in reality, life is pretty busy. So I wanted to finally share this project, 3rd Grade Art - A Spring Path, that I helped Tyler's class with.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gsH8k4GZ6EU/YAJSR7ysdhI/AAAAAAABr8A/-mTvCsZUexA0GLrhB5u2_aKmWb_HkQPkQCPcBGAYYCw/s1852/A%2BSpring%2BPath.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1852" data-original-width="1481" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gsH8k4GZ6EU/YAJSR7ysdhI/AAAAAAABr8A/-mTvCsZUexA0GLrhB5u2_aKmWb_HkQPkQCPcBGAYYCw/w512-h640/A%2BSpring%2BPath.jpg" width="512" /></a></div><br /><div>It's bittersweet because this actually ended up being the last project I got to do with Tyler's class. I am really grateful that his teacher let me come into the class and do some paintings with them. We did some fun paintings this year and I hope the kids enjoyed it! And as always, <a href="https://decoart.com/"><strong>DecoArt</strong></a> made it all possible as they supplied ALL of the paint I needed to do these projects with 23 kids!<br /><br />I found this 3rd grade art A Spring Path on Pinterest. <a href="https://stepbysteppainting.net/2019/02/16/how-to-paint-a-spring-tree-path/"><strong>StepByStepPainting.net</strong></a> provides an easy breakdown to help kids (and adults!) make a beautiful picture. I did change up the colors a little bit so I didn't have quite so many shades, as that gets more complicated than we need it to be with 23 kids!<br /><br />And as you can see from my picture below I still used quite a few colors. But the kids do great at following directions and then also making it there own.<br /><br />I started with sketching out a small part for the sun, adding the bright background and creating the path. After I added one layer for the path I went over it with another shade of grey to add some dimension. Then I added green for grass. It isn't very easy to tell, but there is a second green that I added as well so it gives it a pop of color in the grass.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GcAE8br0xwE/YAJSRXAqAiI/AAAAAAABr8U/pBgzsCNlmAQbDTlTZLpWUQmyFoOvuOy8wCPcBGAYYCw/s1024/A%2BSpring%2BPath%2B%2Bset%2Bup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="341" data-original-width="1024" height="212" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GcAE8br0xwE/YAJSRXAqAiI/AAAAAAABr8U/pBgzsCNlmAQbDTlTZLpWUQmyFoOvuOy8wCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h212/A%2BSpring%2BPath%2B%2Bset%2Bup.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>Next, I added the black for the trees. Once the trees were mostly dry I wanted to add some extra color. I decided to add brown into them to create some bark on the trees.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-af89HOsI1XE/YAJSSZW1gYI/AAAAAAABr8c/FvC1Y4RYTXEx8rT_kNx5-3kze0usRMhagCPcBGAYYCw/s1024/side%2Bby%2Bside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="512" data-original-width="1024" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-af89HOsI1XE/YAJSSZW1gYI/AAAAAAABr8c/FvC1Y4RYTXEx8rT_kNx5-3kze0usRMhagCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h320/side%2Bby%2Bside.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>Last, I used three different pinks to create the leaves. I added leaves all over trees and then mixed some of the colors for fun to make additional colored flowers.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fTPwHjYCG9w/YAJSQ54AUdI/AAAAAAABr8U/Y99QpHWZMBYPRRImYJg-_N9iDS52HpNfgCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200312_164741.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fTPwHjYCG9w/YAJSQ54AUdI/AAAAAAABr8U/Y99QpHWZMBYPRRImYJg-_N9iDS52HpNfgCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200312_164741.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>As you can see below the kids made it their own by added some birds and a tree stump.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3RaInGwSLpk/YAJSSPCuKfI/AAAAAAABr8Y/2eDPNiFQzw0o_RUf-XOc7IOQbe3tLNTywCPcBGAYYCw/s1024/kids%2Bpictures.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1024" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3RaInGwSLpk/YAJSSPCuKfI/AAAAAAABr8Y/2eDPNiFQzw0o_RUf-XOc7IOQbe3tLNTywCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h640/kids%2Bpictures.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>I think they all did a great job!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--oTz0BwTpSE/YAJSQ1EIt2I/AAAAAAABr8U/sZPkxVbkDT8CuGTApBoNLlfGDyK0XBPVgCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200313_144308.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--oTz0BwTpSE/YAJSQ1EIt2I/AAAAAAABr8U/sZPkxVbkDT8CuGTApBoNLlfGDyK0XBPVgCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200313_144308.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>This was some fun 3rd grade art! This time I decided to skip the paint and use colored pencils, which just made the project a little quicker because we weren't waiting for any paint to dry. But the kids still all had a lot of fun and seemed to enjoy this perspective landscape.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iWCVHHzi-xk/YAKE9oWw95I/AAAAAAABr9w/5VwYiaP4VissHQaBMC9V3qtVed3MV7IEACPcBGAYYCw/s657/Perspective%2BLandscape.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="657" data-original-width="493" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iWCVHHzi-xk/YAKE9oWw95I/AAAAAAABr9w/5VwYiaP4VissHQaBMC9V3qtVed3MV7IEACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h640/Perspective%2BLandscape.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">Teaching kids perspective can be interesting because they get it, but getting them to actually put it onto paper is a little confusing. Why would we want the lines to be close together at the top but nowhere close at the bottom? Some kids struggled just a little to get it, But I think in the end it all came together.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-78JjpX7PFOQ/YAKHzHNjX7I/AAAAAAABr94/5RufPJF49KMwo8veHXe4wlGN4MoebfcwwCLcBGAsYHQ/s876/20200329_140404.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="657" data-original-width="876" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-78JjpX7PFOQ/YAKHzHNjX7I/AAAAAAABr94/5RufPJF49KMwo8veHXe4wlGN4MoebfcwwCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/20200329_140404.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><span style="text-align: left;"><br />One thing I do when I am preparing these art days is make a picture ahead of time. I like to take a finished picture with me that day because it gets them excited for the project. But then I also use a second piece of paper and walk through it with them step by step. But I do love to pull out a load of hot, fresh clothes that smell amazing and help my house to smell amazing as well. This laundry scent booster does just that- makes my laundry smell like fresh oranges.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5gmTB6bcPlk/YAKKBWU4nPI/AAAAAAABr-E/jp_TW351nekQoRYIRqPZhm0R0PunnXKYACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Laundry%2BBooster.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5gmTB6bcPlk/YAKKBWU4nPI/AAAAAAABr-E/jp_TW351nekQoRYIRqPZhm0R0PunnXKYACLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Laundry%2BBooster.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>This DIY laundry scent booster was so easy to make and it was literally, start to finish about 2 minutes!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wnuj2Qm83jQ/YAKKRHY6y9I/AAAAAAABr-g/LZoPt5ROnHsdTssw3Z3JXFEJs99ax9d-wCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200130_093834.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wnuj2Qm83jQ/YAKKRHY6y9I/AAAAAAABr-g/LZoPt5ROnHsdTssw3Z3JXFEJs99ax9d-wCPcBGAYYCw/w480-h640/20200130_093834.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>And it only requires 3 ingredients! Me? I have a normal amount of all of the above. And I also love that I can make my own hand soap to keep my families hands clean. So today I wanted to share this foaming hand soap that I made.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AFjo3hvoioA/YAKL5qgNOnI/AAAAAAABr-s/RQMxHGCMrOUg15QgLn5I11S2sGrgPdpmACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Foaming%2BHand%2BSoap.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AFjo3hvoioA/YAKL5qgNOnI/AAAAAAABr-s/RQMxHGCMrOUg15QgLn5I11S2sGrgPdpmACLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Foaming%2BHand%2BSoap.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>I already had some of the foaming pumps from dōTerra so I was able to make this foaming hand soap in just a matter of moments. And as you can imagine, it smells amazing and clean and fresh. Right now I just keep them in my kitchen and bathroom because my little kids think the foam is so fun to play with and blow through it - so they don't get it in their bathroom.<br /><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pWM9WjU6iao/YAKL6MSncoI/AAAAAAABr-8/YJqGEQQaJl8Anoe_PLzpN6gYzK2bG-CEgCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200224_100026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pWM9WjU6iao/YAKL6MSncoI/AAAAAAABr-8/YJqGEQQaJl8Anoe_PLzpN6gYzK2bG-CEgCPcBGAYYCw/w480-h640/20200224_100026.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>If you ever make any of your own things at home you might already have castile soap, but if not you can find it at Walmart, or <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2UdCzGN">Amazon</a></strong>.</div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>2 tablespoons <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2UdCzGN">unscented liquid castile soap</a></strong></li><li>1 tablespoon <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2wBW8zv">Fractionated Coconut Oil</a></strong></li><li>20 drops essential oil</li><li>Water</li></ul></div><div><em>Note: </em>I used 10 drops of Peppermint oil and 10 drops of Melaleuca oil</div><br /><div><strong>Instructions<br /></strong></div><ol> <li>Put castile soap and Coconut Oil into the bottle.</li><li>Add essential oils</li><li>Add water into the bottle slowly, (make sure you leave room for the pump!)</li><li>Put the lid on and shake</li><li>Pump one to two times into hands when washing</li></ol>You will love this soap as much as I do! I have used the same brand and scent of chapstick since I was about a freshman in high school. I have occasionally strayed and tried other brands but I have always gone back to my one true love chapstick, until now. Recently I decided to make my own and for my birthday I asked for a lip balm kit that I found on amazon. And now, this lip balm is my new true love. It's amazing. I've said before, I know I am not even close to getting rid of all the chemicals within my house, but slowly, over time I am working to get rid of more and more. Insert DIY: Clean Hands here<br /><br />I made this hand cleaner to keep on my kitchen counter. I'm always working on projects and I wash my hands a lot. But I have always been a hand sanitizer person too and I won't lie, you'll still find it in my house because I am not a money waster either. So as those items get finished off I just won't buy more. But I use this often and so do my kids because it is just awesome to have. I keep a big bottle at our lake house because right now we keep the water off in the winter but a girl still needs clean hands, yes?<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qIHBsquJK2k/YAKZqmXBYnI/AAAAAAABsAI/b_l8zBNuVt0VlsZqmRgblgZPbL9ARPgxQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20190624_153626.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qIHBsquJK2k/YAKZqmXBYnI/AAAAAAABsAI/b_l8zBNuVt0VlsZqmRgblgZPbL9ARPgxQCLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/20190624_153626.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div><br />10 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree)<br />10 drops Frankincense<br />10 drops On Guard<br />1 Tbsp Witch Hazel<br />Top with Water<br /><br />One of my favorite things about this is that it smells delicious so I don't feel like I am missing out on all those fun flavors that you find at the lotion store! One scent I look forward to making is Eucalyptus and Spearmint because that combination is awesome! And I recently made more combos so keep an eye out for those posts coming soon!<br /><br />As you can see, with only 4 actual ingredients this is super easy to make and have on hand! My favorite time to use it is right after I shave my legs. It gives such a soft feeling to my legs and especially during the winter months it helps to get rid of any lingering dry skin.<br /><br />The great thing about this scrub is that you can throw it together in just a couple of minutes! Mix everything in one bowl and stir!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OJCfKYiQhzY/YAKbAIKJdfI/AAAAAAABsAU/WttsF_4zqkcomp3l_xhs57buQ5TPYfXugCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Lavender%2BSugar%2BScrub.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OJCfKYiQhzY/YAKbAIKJdfI/AAAAAAABsAU/WttsF_4zqkcomp3l_xhs57buQ5TPYfXugCLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Lavender%2BSugar%2BScrub.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div><br />Lavender essential oils are good for so many things such as promoting relaxation, treating depression, anxiety, and can even treat fungal infections! So many great benefits to using something as simple as this Lavender Sugar Scrub.<br /><br />I got this super cute container from Hobby Lobby with the little wooden spoon that is the perfect amount to use each time! But really you just want any container that seals airtight. And you might need to give it a stir before using as the oils will probably make their way to the bottom of the jar.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-snNi2gDHuAU/YAKcBidbZuI/AAAAAAABsAk/7lYHy5UYNTch0RnxtE7TAIENllRsUB-4ACPcBGAYYCw/s657/20200127_130005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="657" data-original-width="493" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-snNi2gDHuAU/YAKcBidbZuI/AAAAAAABsAk/7lYHy5UYNTch0RnxtE7TAIENllRsUB-4ACPcBGAYYCw/w480-h640/20200127_130005.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div><br />How beautiful is this scrub? Anything you can do to speed up the process is on the table and that includes hot showers with Vicks shower disks. An who I am to tell the girl no when I get to try something new?!? So after scouring for an Oreo cake, she found this one and that is how we ended up with an Oreo Birthday Cake.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zO-5XBydkQo/YAPEha2QymI/AAAAAAABsGI/W7nbU1KtzaE6Y9mkp0TIGW3caFp21IQ9gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/OreoBirthdayCake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zO-5XBydkQo/YAPEha2QymI/AAAAAAABsGI/W7nbU1KtzaE6Y9mkp0TIGW3caFp21IQ9gCLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/OreoBirthdayCake.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>This birthday cake was amazing! And really fun to make. But first, I want to share where I found it. <a href="https://www.queensleeappetit.com/birthday-cake-oreo-cake/"><strong>QUEENSLEE APPETIT</strong></a> is the blog I got it from! And I think it is safe to say Summer loved it! And that is why I decided to make essential oil toilet bombs to start!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XHY78bVc-qc/YAOI2cKEUII/AAAAAAABsCw/1W8P5zg4QqcWinlDIjBC8krmg6D28f4-ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1024/20200123_095631-768x1024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XHY78bVc-qc/YAOI2cKEUII/AAAAAAABsCw/1W8P5zg4QqcWinlDIjBC8krmg6D28f4-ACLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/20200123_095631-768x1024.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>One day when I was using a chemical-filled toilet cleaner I found myself coughing uncontrollably and it actually took me a moment to put it together and walk out of the room to realize that my lungs were reacting to the cleaner.<br /><br />Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if someone came to my house and looked around they will see plenty of things that are no good for my family to be using. I'm not sure my house will ever be completely chemical-free - (I mean, I love my nail wraps and if you've ever used them then you know the smell that is there when you open that package) But I do try to eliminate what I can!<br /><br />These were really easy to make and I made the mixture in about 5 minutes. But then I did let them sit on the counter to harden overnight before I took them out of the trays.<br /><br />I started with mixing together the soda and citric acid, then the oils then slowly, the water.<br /><br />Once everything was mixed well I added it to these ice cube trays that I picked up from the dollar store just to make things like this! Make sure you pack the mixture in well!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K78iNeeNamE/YAOJGlP3viI/AAAAAAABsC4/MTqQxrFMBhYKtfqg9AVgRSSKPxBYnHdNQCLcBGAsYHQ/s876/20200122_141536.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="657" data-original-width="876" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K78iNeeNamE/YAOJGlP3viI/AAAAAAABsC4/MTqQxrFMBhYKtfqg9AVgRSSKPxBYnHdNQCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/20200122_141536.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>And then, as I said above, I just let them rest on the counter overnight to let them dry up.<br /><br /><b>Toilet Bombs</b><ul> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 1/3 cup baking soda</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1/2 cup citric acid (I found mine in the canning section)</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 teaspoon water</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">30 drops Lemongrass Essential Oils</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">small spray bottle</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">a mold to put the mixture in. Stir well.</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Using a spray bottle with water, spray the mixture once then stir. Spray again then stir. It’s important that you don’t overspray as it will make the mixture sticky, but if you don’t use enough it will be dry and crumble. </span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Use your hands to mix until it is lump-free and just the right amount of water. </span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Pack the mixture tightly into each mold you are using. Let them dry overnight, then carefully remove them from the mold.</span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Store in an airtight container. </span></li><br /> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">To use, drop one toilet bomb into the toilet. And really, that is because I finally am feeling more confident in sharing and feeling like I might know enough to help others. And that is why I wanted to share this Essential Oil Healing Salve.<br /><br />The first time I tried essential oils was clear back in 2016- so yeah, in comparison to how long they've been around, I'm still a newbie. Summer was having a playdate with a preschool friend and her mom and I were talking about digestion, a total mom conversation, right? She made me a roller bottle with DigestZen and told me to roll it on my belly. I did and it worked basically immediately.....<br /><br />But then I forgot about it for the next 6 month or so. Obviously, I wasn't committed. :) Over the next couple of years, I used my DigestZen roller when I remembered, along with the On Guard I acquired from another friend and finally decided to just dive it. Really, I am so thankful that I did. The times I used my oils were helpful enough to keep my coming back and wanting to learn more.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ib7jWSrwtrU/YAOKrEGjY5I/AAAAAAABsDo/oHY3LI5cV1cEuuUV6W1jkvLtPTVZwg_YwCPcBGAsYHg/s3264/20200121_123133.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ib7jWSrwtrU/YAOKrEGjY5I/AAAAAAABsDo/oHY3LI5cV1cEuuUV6W1jkvLtPTVZwg_YwCPcBGAsYHg/w480-h640/20200121_123133.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>This essential oil healing salve is pretty new to me but I noticed a difference on my dry hands and feet so quick after I started to use it that I decided I needed to make my own so that I never ran out! And thankfully it was easy to make!<br /><br />Adding all ingredients except your essential oils, heat until they are melted and then set aside to cool for a few before adding your essential oils so that you don't scorch them. I have really enjoyed helping each month and this month, with all of the snow we have gotten I felt that this Winter's Night - 3rd Grade Art project was perfect.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9RsbKU5vchQ/YAON5bt9D9I/AAAAAAABsEk/dZm9TFZkj60sDb34mnWUX2N-PZKL5rN7wCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/WintersNight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9RsbKU5vchQ/YAON5bt9D9I/AAAAAAABsEk/dZm9TFZkj60sDb34mnWUX2N-PZKL5rN7wCPcBGAYYCw/w480-h640/WintersNight.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div>When I first found my inspiration on <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/TheColbertClan/tylers-art-class/"><strong>Pinterest</strong></a> I showed Tyler and asked if he thought it would be a good one. He said it looked hard, but I really have confidence in these kids and felt like they could do it!<br /><br />I turned to my trusty <a href="https://decoart.com/"><strong>DecoArt paint</strong></a> for the win! They were so amazing and provided me with all the paint I needed to do monthly paintings in Tyler's class this year, which was awesome!!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9mp9D14ZPc/YAON406UpuI/AAAAAAABsEg/-j-CEaRaSucl9VkF7CyG8RsdOTMPczqZQCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200116_132517.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9mp9D14ZPc/YAON406UpuI/AAAAAAABsEg/-j-CEaRaSucl9VkF7CyG8RsdOTMPczqZQCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200116_132517.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_iR-ZHmdPR0/YAON4dFpCkI/AAAAAAABsEY/inD-7LqaffgtR-NbWY09lvDva7pwJvx6gCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200116_131624.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_iR-ZHmdPR0/YAON4dFpCkI/AAAAAAABsEY/inD-7LqaffgtR-NbWY09lvDva7pwJvx6gCPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200116_131624.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div><br />I also got a super cool product because I knew I wanted to do some sort of "snow" project over the winter, and this <a href="https://decoart.com/snow-tex/"><strong>SNO-TEX</strong></a> was so fun!<br /><br />We started with making a curved line across the bottom area that would end up being our snowy hills, and a circle in the middle that would be the moon. I then used the blue to paint the rest of the background. And next, I added a very thin layer of the sno-tex using a popsicle stick.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kMvUBEygy4o/YAON2E3xMCI/AAAAAAABsE0/fhA3Ls5GGY85irVSCCjvyVQx0uXmLtzAACPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200116_093420.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kMvUBEygy4o/YAON2E3xMCI/AAAAAAABsE0/fhA3Ls5GGY85irVSCCjvyVQx0uXmLtzAACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200116_093420.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br />One tip I would have for the sno-tex is to drop a pile of it onto your project and spread it around a bit thick, but then use the edge of your popsicle stick to scrape off the excess until just a thin layer is left.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_IW7x2gfgBg/YAON112rMLI/AAAAAAABsEo/4y-CY1ThFkon5hKKqh0DmWz9XyfeULuTACPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200116_100528.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_IW7x2gfgBg/YAON112rMLI/AAAAAAABsEo/4y-CY1ThFkon5hKKqh0DmWz9XyfeULuTACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200116_100528.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><br /><div>I used mainly white for the moon, however, I did add a small amount of grey around the edges of the moon. I also used only white for the trees and snowflakes.</div><div><br />With the snowflakes, I used the edge of my foam brush to make the snowflakes. This proved to be harder for the kids as they tend to push down on the brushes rather than be light as a feather.<br /><br />The snow texture is so much fun and gives the picture an extra fun dimension. The kids seemed to struggle with spreading is a little, but it wasn't too bad. And the drying time was pretty fast- within a half-hour or so.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UX0Ps3MdilM/YAON2XiOR-I/AAAAAAABsEs/PE_QHLK0Jpwq8FZ8QOkudE0oDIMUyKEMACPcBGAYYCw/s2048/20200116_103545.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UX0Ps3MdilM/YAON2XiOR-I/AAAAAAABsEs/PE_QHLK0Jpwq8FZ8QOkudE0oDIMUyKEMACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h480/20200116_103545.jpg" width="640" /></a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>I think this was the hardest painting the kids have done so far, and we had a few struggles, but I think they still did really great!
