Un-Sloppy Joes

As you're sipping your morning coffee or heading off to work, my husband and I are waking up on our third day in Maui, celebrating our anniversary, enjoying the beach, luaus and getting ready to head out snorkeling and swimming with dolphins later this morning.

But since you are not here with us, I thought I'd share this fun dinner, that your kids especially will love.

I know you have heard of sloppy joes, but have you ever had an un-sloppy joe? Really, they are one in the same. And the name? It's sort of deceiving.  I think a better name would be a Sloppy Joe Pocket.

I still made the mixture the same way I would have made an actual sloppy joe, but instead of putting it on a bun and eating it like a hamburger, I put it in this fun little pocket and sealed up the sides.

Un-sloppy Joes

I just used 2 crescent rolls and pushed together the seams, added the mixture and then added cheese. (I actually forgot the cheese on the first several that I made!)

They were fun to make but I won't lie. They weren't exactly "un-sloppy".  Actually, they were totally sloppy to make, but they were pretty un-sloppy to eat, so that is an okay trade.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of crescent rolls

  • 1 lb. hamburger, browned and drained

  • 1 small can of Manwich sauce

  • shredded cheddar cheese

  1. Open up your two cans of crescent rolls and take two at a time, pushing together to seams so they make one rectangle. You will end up with 8 rectangles total.

  2. Add Manwich to hamburger and stir to combine.

  3. Scoop the mixture onto the "crescent roll" rectangle, add cheese and fold in half

  4. Use a fork to pinch together the edges to prevent leaking.

  5. Bake on 350° until they are golden brown. Basically the amount of time the packaging says.
