Lavender Sugar Scrub

I love to pamper myself as much as the next person and one way I do that is using lavender sugar scrub to exfoliate my skin. My favorite time to use it is right after I shave my legs. It gives such a soft feeling to my legs and especially during the winter months it helps to get rid of any lingering dry skin.

The great thing about this scrub is that you can throw it together in just a couple of minutes! Mix everything in one bowl and stir!

Lavender essential oils are good for so many things such as promoting relaxation, treating depression, anxiety, and can even treat fungal infections! So many great benefits to using something as simple as this Lavender Sugar Scrub.

I got this super cute container from Hobby Lobby with the little wooden spoon that is the perfect amount to use each time! But really you just want any container that seals airtight. And you might need to give it a stir before using as the oils will probably make their way to the bottom of the jar.

How beautiful is this scrub? And it made enough for two containers!  So I'll keep one for myself and the other is for my bestie, because it is a great gift!

Lavender Sugar Scrub
  • 1 cup white sugar

  • ¼ C fractionated coconut oil

  • 5 drops lavender essential oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • Soap colorant (optional- I used a lilac color I already had)

  1. Combine all ingredients into a bowl.

  2. Enjoy! (Yes, it is really that easy!)

I love using this Lavender Sugar Scrub! Not only does it have an amazing, relaxing smell but it is great for our skin!

Dating your Daughter

This post has been compensated by IHelpMoms.com and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

I love having Mama/Daughter time with Summer. She turned 5 a few months ago and still thinks I am the best of the best. I know the days will come when I am not her favorite person, so for now I am going to enjoy every moment of our bestie time together.

I am always looking for new ways to have one on time with the kids. Summer is the easiest because we just happen to like all the same girlie things.

One thing that is great about dating your kids is that they are a pretty cheap date! I mean, it is fun to go out to lunch or go get pedicures and all, but we have lots of fun without spending a bunch of money!

One of Summer's favorite things to do it take selfies. Girlfriend loves to get her picture taken (most of the time!). She loves using the filters on SnapChat - The filters are actually all we use it for! But pretty much any occasion has to be marked with a selfie!

Summer loves to be read to. We are working on learning her sounds and sounding out words so that she is ahead of the game when she heads off to Kindergarten next Fall. Her favorite is Huggy Kissy. Have you read that one before?

Normally painting her nails is enough but one day we ran across fake nails for kids and she thought it was the coolest thing ever! I won't lie, they lasted less than 24 hours and I even found one stuck in her hair the next morning, but she had fun and loved spending the time putting them on!

Matchy matchy! I have made several matching shirts for her and I, and we have matching pajamas. She always asks to wear out matching clothes. But now, thanks to The Dreamland Company we have matching nightgowns!

I love this sleep ware because they are made with LUXE cotton with a touch of stretch and are amazingly soft.  These nightgowns are designed and made by women right here in the USA. And now these adorable kids sizes are available so you and your daughter can match too!

Right now you can even get a great Deal For Moms! SAVE $5 WHEN YOU -- USE CODE: "ihelpmoms"

Don't miss The Dreamland Company on Facebook and Instagram! @TheDreamLandCompany
They would be great Christmas presents for not only yourself and your daughter, but your mom, grandma or any other lady in your life.

I wish I would have had one after having my kids because it would have been great to change into my own nightgown and be comfortable rather than wearing a hospital gown!

Spending a morning with curlers in her hair while we scrapbooked was fun too. Any type of crafts go over well at my house.

Or even a girls day watching girlie movies is good too!

But really, anytime that I get to just relax with my girl makes for a great date!

What are your favorite ways to date your daughter?

10 Ways to get Mom Time during the Summer

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.  #CraftYourCool #CollectiveBias

School is out, kids are home and your "mom time" just went out the door. Am I right?

Today I put together 10 Ways to get Mom Time during the Summer. I'll be sharing everything from my Starbucks® Bottled Dulce de Leche Frappuccino® Coffee Drink 13.7 oz Single Serve item only (not available in 4-pack) to Bubble Baths.
I'

I think sometimes people have a preconceived notion that because I am a stay at home mom it means I have all the down time in the world. I recently have a friend say to me, "I'd love a month of not doing anything." when I said I was looking forward to summertime.  Now don't get me wrong, there is plenty of time for sun bathing and binge watching my favorite shows, but I am running to swim lessons, play dates, sports and mall drop offs.

So having mom time has to be carved in just like the kid's events. And that is why I wanted to share a little of what I am doing to share a little of what I am doing to still get some time to myself.

  1. Wake up Early
Getting up early isn't something I love to do. I consider myself an early bird but that is still 7 am. And getting up before my kids rarely happens. So I like to grab some coffee and head out to the back deck and enjoy a little bit of quiet before we start out day.

  2. Go for a Walk
In one way I am pretty spoiled. With Zach being 15 now he has become a pretty reliable babysitting source. So it doesn't take much for me to grab my shoes and head out on a walk. Which leads me to my next one....

  3. Go to an exercise class.
Maybe you don't have a built in teenage babysitter, but even if you don't, recruit a friend to watch the kids for an hour so you can hit the elliptical or do some Zumba.  Still not workable? Grab an exercise DVD and hide in your room to do it!

  4. Get yourself an Adult Coloring Book.
I won't lie, I am not a good colorer. I don't stay in the lines well. But I was surprised at how relaxing is was. You could even print off some pages from online and enjoy the time.

  5. Read a book or magazine.
I've always been a reader. I got that from my mom and ever since I was a kid, reading is something I have done a lot of. This year is the first year I have actually set a goal for myself, which was 30 books. And so far I have done pretty well, despite an couple of them dragging on and on.

  6. Relax in the sunshine.
Nothing makes me happier than a beautiful day full of sunshine. And taking my current book and a blanket out to relax in the sun is one of my all time favorite things to do.

  7. Put on your favorite music.
Lounging in the sun, hanging out at the river.... it all goes hand in hand with music. Turn it up and belt out those tunes.

  8. Spa Day.
To me a spa day doesn't have to mean some expensive, fancy place. For me it means relaxing, getting my nails done, toes painted, a facial... All things I can do in the comfort of my own home.

  9. Bubble Bath.
I am not really a bath person. Maybe because growing up we never had a bath tub, only a shower. But every so often a bath just sounds so nice and relaxing. And it is always accompanied by my current book.

  10. Schedule some girl time.
Grab your bestie and hit up a current chick flick, or have a coffee date. When it comes to you and your best friend I'm sure it doesn't take a lot to have a fun and relaxing time. It is great to have play dates and all but don't forget adult time too!

One sure way for me to relax is to grab a nice cold drink and sit back for a few minutes. Luckily I can get the new Starbucks® Bottled Dulce de Leche Frappuccino® Coffee Drinks at Walmart and they are the perfect size. These single serve drinks are perfect for our on the go nature, ready for me to drink right from the bottle with the pop of a cap and come in other flavors.

Also if you Buy 3 Ready to Drink products get 35 stars, which if you are a Starbucks Rewards member you know how fast those stars can add up and that makes for more Mom Time!

What are your favorite ways to sneak in Mom Time during the Summer when your kids are home?

Summer's Tea Party

This past weekend my baby girl turned 4 years old. Yep, Summer is four years old and that called for a Tea Party with her friends.

So we rounded up the best girlfriends a girl can have, and had some snacks, drinks and played some games.

summers-tea-party

Months ago I decided to have a Tea Party for Summer's birthday. Of course, I turned to Pinterest because, obviously you can find everything there. And several weeks ago I started collecting things here and there to complete her party. Then I made her invites and got them into the mail.

Then this last week I was in Party mode to get things done and make it happen!

Thank goodness for my Cricut because I was able to make so much of my decorations with it! I made doily's, a banner, photo booth props, tea hats, pieces for Pin the tea cup on the tea pot, it was awesome, I made so much of it myself and that always feels great!

I am going to be sharing some individual posts on a few of the things I made over the next few days, so keep your eyes out for those too!

In the past I always attempt making my own cakes, and it never works as good as I hope for it to so this year I just bought a cake from a local box store. I struggled to find a teapot or something similar so I ended up going with this princess cake since it was gardeny and flowery and I went with it! Plus Summer loved it and that is really what matters.

I love my chalkboard wall. We never get tired of drawing on it!

Using the Home Made Sand from the other day we put it to good use and made fun sand bottles. I used a coffee bottle that I washing to fill with sand. The kids all loved it!

Then finally we did the photo booth all through out the party. It sort of got messed up because I planned to do the photo booth in my back yard with this beautiful wire chair my friend Kara lent me but it was pouring buckets and I had to set it up in my entry way instead! But it all worked out!

We really had the best day and Summer had so much fun! She loved seeing her friends, playing games, eating cake and getting some super fun gifts!

Thank you to all of our friends that made this day possible for her! We love you!

Mommy's Summer Bucket List

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SummerSunCare #CollectiveBias

Summer is here! Today my oldest son is finishing his last day of Middle School... Yeah, I can't believe it either!

In a few short months I am going to have a High Schooler, a Kindergartner and a Preschooler. Instead of crying my eyes out now, because I know I will be doing plenty of that in September, I am just going to make the most of this summer and the beautiful weather that is upon us.

If you have followed my blog for any amount of time you know that every year I make a Summer Bucket List of things that the kids and I are going to do. And while I do have a list of things for us to do this summer, right now I am allowing myself to focus on just that. Myself.

I decided to make a Mommy's Summer Bucket List this year! I have all sorts of things that I would like to do and while some of them include my kids, a few of them don't! Us moms need a day off too every once in a while! So I headed to Target to get a few must haves to pack in my Summer tote.

Summer; Summertime; Sunny Days; Hawaiian Tropic; Sun tan

One of the most important things when it comes to the Summer and being outside is Sun Screen. So the first things I grabbed were the New Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration Weightless Lotion Sunscreen Pump and also Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration Face Lotion.

I picked these for several reasons like the amazing smell, because it is recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation to protect against the sun’s harmful rays, and you really get to experience weightless indulgence. It is a protection you will barely feel and has hydrating ribbons for 12-hour moisturization.

Hawaiian Tropic
A couple of other things I always have around are my mesh tote bag, a beach towel, books, a blanket, and snacks. Lots and lots of snacks!

I have a huge list of books on my Kindle that I want to read, but after discovery the Little Free Library's in my neighborhood I have several books that I am ready to sit down and read on my new cozy picnic blanket!

IMG_20160615_164135

Finally, I want to share my Summer Bucket List and show you how you can make your very own!

So start with your favorite photo editing software. If you don't have one, just search for a free one and several will come up.

The one I use has a curious George type animal so head there and click "Design" and then select your size.

Add Design

If you want a color back ground select "canvas color" then pick your color. Or you can just make it white.

Add canvas color
Add a banner of some sort by selecting "banner". This one I used is a font that I have downloaded.

Add banner
Add your Title by selecting your font and whatever you'd like for it to say. I chose one font for "Mommy's" and a second font for "Summer Bucket List".

Add title
Then I added the numbers using the same font.

Add numbers
Then again with the same font I added my list.

Add list
Lastly, I added a fun flourish at the bottom of my list.

Add flourish
Then save it, and Voila! You just made your very own Summer Bucket List

10 Tips for 21 Day Fix

Back in July I started 21 Day Fix. I've tried many diets in the past, and ya, they might work for the time being. But unless you actually change your habits your life is not going to change for good. You have to learn to make better choices if you want to continue. I wanted to share what I've taken away from my time so far, doing 21 Day Fix.

21 day fix

Take before and afters- I know that you really might not want to. And you probably think it is not even a big deal. But please, take a before and after picture. Actually, take several. Take one from the front, one from the side and one from the back. Make sure you wear something that will actually show results. So no baggy shirts and sweatpants. I took mine in a bikini. (Ya, I know. Not a pretty picture.) You might think you don't ever want to remember this time again, but believe me, down the road it will feel good to look at those to see how far you have come. To compare with the now and see how much you have changed.

Take your measurements- Just like with the pictures, it might seem silly. You might think you don't need them. But I'll tell you what- When the scale shows that you have lost ZERO weight and then you take your measurements and see that you have lost inches from every part of your body, that makes it all worth it. I have had rounds where I have lost nothing, or next to nothing and then I see a 3 inch loss from my waist and that feels pretty darn good.

Have ice ready to add to your water- This might seem silly, but for me, it is important. I have never been an ice person. If I go somewhere and get a drink I ask for light ice. Or if the old me grabbed a can of soda, I wanted it room temperature. If I fill up a glass of water I never put ice in it. But the new me, the me that drinks 90 oz of water every day, wants a big glass of water that is ice cold. Nothing is better than a glass of ice water right after you finish working out. And it is so important that you are getting enough water! Make sure you are drinking half of your body weight in oz. (So if you weigh 200lbs, you need to drink 100 oz each day!)

Meal plan and prep- Those days that you have nothing prepared to eat, nothing ready when dinner time is coming around, those are the days that you try to justify running to the Drive-thru, or grabbing a pizza. But DON'T do it! Instead spend a little while browsing Pinterest to find recipes and check out the ones I've tried and shared HERE. Write down your grocery list and stick to it! (And stick to the outer limits of the store) Then take the time to prep your food. I notice that I eat a lot better when I take the time to wash all of my veggies, have them cut up if needed and put into a container, ready for me to grab out and eat.

meal prep

Follow the eating plan- I can't stress this enough. If you don't follow the meal plan, you are not going to get the best results possible! I know this first hand! After a couple of rounds I felt like I had a pretty good handle on the portions. I started to eye things a little more than I measured and it was not in my best interest. Especially when I finished my next round and not only did the scale barely moved, my measurements didn't either. It was a total bummer!

Stick with your containers- Portion control is something that I have struggled with for the majority of my life. Even if I would make healthy choices, I still overate. When I started 21 Day Fix, I won't lie, I was worried that I wasn't going to get enough to eat and that I would still be hungry. But there are actually so many food choices that I'm finishing my meal and feeling full.

21 day fix containers

Do it every day- Do you want to get healthy? Lose weight? Get in shape? Do the exercises every single day. I did 2 rounds before I skipped a day. I thought I'd be fine, but I swear that next day, it felt like a killer. And every now and again I'll skip and day, then another, then another. Pretty soon you are just starting over again. Are you tired of starting over? Then stop giving up! (Also, share your progress. I love sharing on Instagram, so check me out! ---> HERE)

Do the warm up AND the cool down- You might think that you don't need to do this, but yes, you do. They give you a warm up and cool down for a reason, and that is so you don't hurt yourself, or get cramped up. So do them! Plus, it is only just a couple of more minutes and it feels good at the end to wind down a little.

Have the right equipment- You need two sets of weights, or a resistance band. Also, I use a yoga mat, but you don't really have to have that. For the weights, it's okay to start small. I felt silly with my 3 and 5 pounds weights until we started doing the reps and then I was grateful. But pretty soon it felt too easy and I was able to go up a set (to 8's) and that felt pretty good!

Don't get discouraged- I know it is easier said than done. Sometimes you eat something not on the "approved food" list, or sometimes you skip an exercise. Sometimes you work your butt off and don't see the scale move. I get it, I've been there. But you have to just keep going. Sometimes your body plateaus. Sometimes it needs a little extra push. Don't get discouraged and just keep up your good work!

21 day fix

One last little piece of advice. Measure yourself on Day 1 and Day 21, but in the mean time put your scale away. Don't step on it, don't check to see how you are doing. Just leave it alone!

I am not a doctor, a dietician, or a certified fitness expert. My advice and thoughts should not replace that of a Dr. As always, before starting an exercise plan you should consult your physician with any questions.

Walmart Winter Beauty Box

I have loved getting these Walmart Beauty Boxes- For one, they are only $5 and they come quarterly. And for two, these boxes are most always filled with products that I would use but wouldn't typically buy for myself.

Check out what came in my Winter Beauty Box from Walmart.

Walmart Beauty Box

As you can see I have a shampoo/conditioner, BB Cream, Makeup remover wipes, lipstick, cocoa butter, and foundation.

Walmart Beauty Box

I was the most excited for this shampoo and conditioner. I always like to try new kinds in case I find something that I love. I was a little unsure since these are oil infused and my hair looks like and oil slick by the end of the day, but I've actually really liked it. And it smells amazing.

Walmart Beauty Box

I was also interested in trying out these wipes. I feel like I have tried a few different types of makeup remover and I've never been impressed. So I won't lie, I wasn't holding my breath. But, I am super happy to report that I love these. They take off every last bit of my make up, leaving nothing behind. And I will be buying more of these, for sure! They were by far my favorite item in the box.

Walmart Beauty Box

Have you ever tried any of these products? Or did you get this box? What is your favorite?

Love Me Knott-Bilton Necklace {Review & Giveaway}

I love getting to blog- I never thought it's what I'd be doing while staying home raising my kids- but I'm grateful for it. Along the way I have made many friends because of it, I've made many connections with brands because of it and been able to review all sorts of products/items because of it.

One of my favorite things is working with small businesses. It takes a lot of time and work to get a business going, so doing what I can to help promote their work, showing it off- and exposing them to another audience helps a lot!

And I enjoy getting to try out things like this:

I'm loving this beautiful Howlite necklace! It isn't heavy, like I thought it might be.The beading is perfect and the colors go so wonderfully together. And I really like the hook that keeps it together- makes it very simple to put on.
